After two stints in the Scottish highlands I wanted to explore more of the United Kingdom. Doing a little research online, brought my attention to North Wales - equally picturesque and accessible. Obviously many of the British regions offer amazing landscapes and idyllic little towns, but the short distance from Manchester International Airport to the mountains of Snowdonia National Park and the rugged Northern coast, made the destination ideal for a long weekend trip. I was joined by Albert, a good friend of mine from Barcelona… and off we went!

This little tidal island is one of North Wales’ true gems. Providing views of Snowdonia, Llanddwyn has beaches, crisscrossing footpaths, a lighthouse, wild horses and much more. Just make sure you get back on the mainland before high tide, or you’ll find yourself stranded on the island after dark (like we did!).
South Stack Lighthouse was one of the first places I had noted down when looking for interesting locations. Twice I’ve visited the Scottish Isle of Skye without being able to see the unique Neist Point Lighthouse, so getting to South Stack was high on my list. I’ve visited no place like this before. Vertical cliffs, unique birdlife, powerful winds and a lighthouse that demands your attention.
